Meeting with MLA Dan Ashton and MP Dan Albas

Summary

On December 23, 2020, BCWF Vice President, Dave Carleton and George Guernsey, a member of the local Summerland Sportsman’s Association met with MLA Dan Ashton, Official Opposition Critic for Municipal Affairs and MP Dan Albas, Conservative Shadow Minister For Environment and Climate Change.

Dave Carleton and George Guernsey made a presentation to MLA Dan Ashton and MP Dan Albas in their joint office in Summerland.

They were very open to discussions around our issues and hopeful solutions from the bullet points used by both organizations.

  • Hunting, angling and habitat
  • Access and reconciliation with First Nations
  • Wildlife funding
  • Firearms owners and recreational sport shooters
  • Southern Interior Mule Deer Project

They spent quite a bit of time on fish farms, pinnipeds, steelhead and wild salmon that both were very informed about. The meeting, which lasted for 1,5 hours, was very productive. MP Dan Albas was very helpful enlightening them about what the government is doing that may be useful for the BCWF going forward.

Get Involved & Meet with Your MLA

As passionate conservationists, hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts, it is important to voice your concerns to your elected officials on government decisions effecting fish, wildlife and their habitat.

The BCWF has created two “Best Practices” videos to provide information and support to you. The first video outlines how to book and prepare for a meeting. The second video outlines what and how you may want to communicate during your meeting.
