Forest and Fire Management in BC: Toward Landscape Resilience

Provincial government data indicates that 45% of public land in BC is at high or extreme threat of wildfire. The consequences of catastrophic wildfires are far-reaching, impacting human health and safety, the economy, biodiversity and ecosystem health. This year’s record-setting fire season highlights the urgent need to change how BC’s forests are managed.

Join Tracy Andrews and Nick Reynolds from the BC Forest Practices Board (FPB) along with provincial forest and fire expert Bruce Blackwell to discuss FPB’s recent report, Forest and Fire Management in BC. They’ll discuss why FPB is calling for a provincial vision and action plan to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, and how landscape fire management can help improve landscape resilience.
