Happy Canada Day from the B.C. Wildlife Federation!

This Canada Day, we encourage families across British Columbia to celebrate our great nation by reconnecting with the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us. From forest trails and mountain lakes to coastal shorelines and wildlife habitats, B.C. is home to some of the most breathtaking outdoor spaces in the world.

Hunting, fishing, and foraging are woven into the fabric Canada’s history. Whether you’re hiking, fishing, paddling, or simply exploring your local park, take the time to unplug, get outside with the whole family, and make memories with the people you love.

Get outside with your kids and enjoy the restorative power of our parks and wilderness and appreciate Canada’s hunting and fishing heritage.

As you enjoy the wild spaces that define Canada take a moment to consider the significant role that fish and game clubs have played in the creation and development of the provincial parks system by advocating for conservation, promoting responsible recreation, and contributing to park planning and management. These clubs recognized the importance of protecting natural areas and wildlife habitats, which directly contributed to the expansion of the park system.

Fish and game clubs and the B.C. Wildlife Federation continue to advocate for the expansion of provincial parks and to guarantee that all British Columbians enjoy access to public land for hiking, camping, foraging, hunting, and fishing. We promote responsible hunting and fishing practices, which are crucial for maintaining healthy ecosystems and ensuring the health and sustainability of fish and wildlife populations.

Through the BCWF, fish and game clubs provide input into park planning processes, offering insights into wildlife management, and recreational opportunities.

In addition to our advocacy, the BCWF restores dozens of wetlands and wildlife habitat with boots-on-the-ground projects in partnership with local clubs, communities and First Nations.
