For the 16th year, the B.C. Wildlife Federation Vancouver Island Association proudly hosted the annual Vancouver Island and Region Kids Camp—an unforgettable week of discovery, skill-building, and connection with nature. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Courtenay and District Fish and Game Protection Association’s beautiful property, 30 enthusiastic youth came together to explore the outdoors, ignite their curiosity, and challenge themselves in new and exciting ways.
Throughout the week, campers dove into hands-on experiences like archery, shotgun shooting, cowboy action training, fly tying, survival bracelet crafting, and the construction of duck boxes to support wildlife conservation. They were inspired by educational sessions led by the BC Conservation Officer Service and demonstrations by skilled Houndsmen, giving them an up-close look at what it means to be a steward of our environment.
Adventure filled every day—from the thrill of rock climbing to cooling off with plenty of swimming. But beyond the activities, the true magic of the camp was found in the bonds formed, the confidence gained, and the lifelong memories made.
This camp would not be possible without the incredible support of our dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Courtenay and District Fish and Game Protection Association for not only hosting us on their stunning grounds but also for their generous financial contribution.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to Escape Trailers in Chilliwack for the generous loan of a travel trailer, giving our volunteers a comfortable place to rest after their long days of service. We are also grateful to Quality Foods–Comox for the delicious cake that helped us celebrate the week’s successes.
To the many organizations whose financial support makes this experience possible—Chemainus Rod and Gun Club, Valley Fish and Game, Golden Rods and Reels, Gold River Rod and Gun, Ladysmith Eagles, the Warren Angus Memorial Fund, the John Beggs Memorial Fund, Parksville-Qualicum Fish and Game Club, Island Waters Fly Fishing, Ladysmith Sportsman, and the Campbell River Fish and Wildlife Association—thank you. Your contributions are investments in the future of conservation and youth empowerment.

And finally, to our incredible volunteers: thank you. Your tireless dedication, compassion, and hard work are the heart of this camp. The memories you help create and the lessons you pass on to these young adventurers will echo through their lives for years to come.
Together, we are nurturing the next generation of conservationists, leaders, and lifelong outdoor enthusiasts. Here’s to many more years of inspiring young minds and hearts—one unforgettable summer at a time.
