Mandatory Reporting for Moose and Caribou Licenses

Under new provincial regulations, every hunter who purchases a species license for moose or caribou is required to file a hunting activity report by January 15, 2025. This applies whether you hunted or not, whether you harvested an animal or not. If you purchased a tag, you must report your moose and caribou hunting activity for the government’s data set.

Good and timely data informs sound wildlife management decisions. The requirements and reporting methods are as follows:

All individuals who purchase a moose or caribou species license are required to submit a report on their hunting activity by January 15, 2025. Submitting a Mandatory Hunter Report does not provide an exemption from fulfilling any other reporting requirements. Hunters who fail to submit a required Mandatory Hunter Report commit an offence and will not be able to purchase a license or LEH application for the following season until the report is submitted.

There are three options to submit a Mandatory Hunter Report:

  • Electronically in WILD from the license on your Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID) profile.

More information on Mandatory Hunter Reporting will be available on the hunting website www.gov.bc.ca/hunting

The B.C. Wildlife Federation encourages hunters to provide hunting activity and harvest information through mandatory reporting for moose and caribou, and through compulsory inspection, compulsory reporting, and voluntary hunter harvest surveys.
