A bull elk was shot and killed along the paved portion of Squamish Valley Road between Nov 1 and 2. There is no opening hunting season for elk in this area.
The Pemberton Wildlife Association has matched the Squamish Valley Rod and Gun Club reward of $5,000, making the total reward $10,000 for information that leads to the conviction of the person or person(s) responsible for this crime.
The Sea to Sky Conservation Officer Service is asking the public for any information about the poaching of a Roosevelt elk in Squamish.
“This is a well-travelled road and conservation officers are hoping a resident or motorist in the area may have seen something or has dashcam footage that could help the investigation,” reads the Squamish Chief news release.
Anyone with information is asked to please call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
