If you are interested in training the next generation of hunters, then becoming a CORE Examiner is for you!

The Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) program is British Columbia’s hunter education program. The B.C. Wildlife Federation (BCWF) operates the CORE Program on behalf of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations. CORE offers expert instruction on safe and ethical hunting, the role of hunters in the protection and conservation of wildlife and natural habitat, bird and animal identification, first aid, and firearms safety.

Steps to becoming a CORE Examiner:

You must have a minimum of five (5) years hunting and firearm handling experience
You must hold a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) and commit to maintaining a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL)
You must complete a Criminal Record Check
You must submit an application for consideration and a signed examiner agreement to the BCWF
You must submit three (3) references to the BCWF, including name, phone number, and email address, one of which must be a Police Officer, Conservation Officer, Current CORE Examiner or an Executive of a Fish and Game Club

If accepted, you will be invited to attend a CORE Examiner Course hosted by one of our CORE Facilitators.

The cost of the CORE Examiner Course is $399 plus tax, payable to the BCWF.

After passing the course you will be sent an appointment letter, awarded a CORE Examiner Certificate and sent an Examiner package.
