Wild Kidz

Play and learn in outdoor wild spaces

Learn how to make a shelter, build a fire and navigate through the wilderness! Wild Kidz is designed for children and youth ages 8 to 17 to learn outdoor skills, wilderness safety and about their community’s wild spaces in a fun, safe environment.

Children participate in many outdoor activities such as shelter-building, fire-building, orienteering (compass work), and outdoor education (e.g. Bear-Aware and Hug-a-Tree programs) combined with a small science curriculum.

There are a range of activities provided, from visiting local ecological attractions – like provincial or national parks – to BCWF members providing programs or demonstrations of their outdoor-related talents. Each camp is programmed around the host community’s attractions and resources, making every camp a unique experience.

Wild Kidz & COVID-19

In order to keep campers at our Wild Kidz camp safe, we have implemented a number of safety measures to limit contact and the potential spread of COVID-19. The following will be taken to ensure camper health and safety:

  •         Daily symptom monitoring
  •         Encouraged face masks or face shields
  •         Frequent hand sanitizing
  •         Increased cleaning schedule for all commonly touched surfaces
  •         Hourly bathroom cleaning
  •         Most lessons occurring outdoors

We will continue to adapt and adjust these requirements to keep our campers, staff, families, and communities safe. For more information, please read our 2022 COVID-19 Camp Policy
