Wild Kidz

Play and learn in outdoor wild spaces

Stay tuned for Wild Kidz 2022 registration!

Learn how to make a shelter, build a fire and navigate through the wilderness! Wild Kidz is designed for children and youth ages 8 to 17 to learn outdoor skills, wilderness safety and about their community’s wild spaces in a fun, safe environment.

Children participate in many outdoor activities such as shelter-building, fire-building, orienteering (compass work), and outdoor education (e.g. Bear-Aware and Hug-a-Tree programs) combined with a small science curriculum.

There are a range of activities provided, from visiting local ecological attractions – like provincial or national parks – to BCWF members providing programs or demonstrations of their outdoor-related talents. Each camp is programmed around the host community’s attractions and resources, making every camp a unique experience.

August 18, 2020- Camp Policy and Update
Dear Families,

We have made our final decision: our camps will still run but at a limited capacity and only in the Lower Mainland.

Although this generally good news, it also means that we unfortunately have to cancel Wild Kidz Castlegar and Rock Creek. We have been going to these two community for the past few Summers and it saddens us deeply that we cannot provide our unique blend of fun and education to the families and kids. We hope to return to both these communities in 2021.

The only confirmed camp is Wild Kidz Abbotsford. The camp is scheduled for August 24 – 28. Wild Kidz Abbotsford is green lit barring any change to the COVID-19 conditions of British Columbia. We are keeping the capacity of the camp to 20 (i.e. we are already SOLD OUT). We are looking into possibly holding a second Abbotsford camp in August – please stay tuned for updates as we gauge the risks and search for a second venue.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns.
