Wild Kidz

Play and learn in outdoor wild spaces

Learn how to make a shelter, build a fire and navigate through the wilderness! Wild Kidz is designed for children aged 9 to 12 to learn outdoor skills, wilderness safety and about their community’s wild spaces in a fun, safe environment.

Children participate in many outdoor activities such as shelter-building, fire-building, orienteering (compass work), and outdoor education (e.g. Bear-Aware and Hug-a-Tree programs) combined with a small science curriculum.

There are a range of activities provided, from visiting local ecological attractions – like provincial or national parks – to BCWF members providing programs or demonstrations of their outdoor-related talents. Each camp is programmed around the host community’s attractions and resources, making every camp a unique experience.
